Jammu and Kashmir: Policeman killed in militant attack in Budgam

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that terrorists killed an unarmed policeman in the state's Budgam district. According to a report of India Today, in the past seven months, militants have looted more Rs 1 crore from banks and ATMs in 13 such incidents, all of them concentrated in South Kashmir.

Sources said that area has been cordoned off and search has been started to nab the attackers.

"But Ahmed instead of obeying the diktat and without caring for his own life raised an alarm drawing the attention of his colleagues who were inside the guard-post", said a police spokesman.

In the process, the said official was injured who consequently succumbed to his injury. So far, no arrests were made in the operation.

Meanwhile, the militant attack on the post at Wardwan in Soibug area of central Kashmir was successfully repulsed by the police.

The youth has been identified as Adil Farooq Mir son of Farooq Mir resident of Galwanpora, Budgam.

There have been several such attacks recently when militants attempted to snatch rifles from the policemen on duty.
