Chubb surprised, excited to be drafted by Broncos

The Denver Broncos have selected North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

What makes Chubb a premier talent, and more importantly, how will the Broncos utilize him? Chubb racked up 20 sacks and 44 tackles for a loss the last two seasons for NC State. He won the Bronco Nagurski Award for the best defensive player in college football this year and was also the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus All-American.

Miller was so excited about his team's first round pick that he posted a video of himself celebrating on Twitter in which he can be seen jumping up and down yelling "We got Bradley Chubb!".

Denver president John Elway was pleased the other teams made a decision to pass up on Chubb.

Miller, with Chubb, Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray all at once?

The congratulations have been overwhelming since his selection Thursday night - "My phone froze yesterday from getting all the notifications", Chubb said - as he aims to answer the question now on the mind of every Broncos' fan.

It's safe to say Elway and his staff had a similar reaction when the Cleveland Browns, thought to be high on Chubb, instead took Ohio State D-back Denzel Ward at No. 4 to go with their surprising pick of QB Baker Mayfield at No. 1. "You never know what's going to happen, so I'm just trying to enjoy the whole thing and not think about where I'll fall".

A stunned Elway said "zero" of his mock draft scenarios had Chubb falling into his lap to the thrill of superstar Von Miller and giving coach Vance Joseph the ultimate problem for a coach: an abundance of pass rushers.

"I want to be the one to deliver that blow", Freeman said on a conference call. I'm looking forward to the opportunity and I can't wait. We felt very fortunate that he was still there at No. 5. Miller has always been the gold standard for pass-rushers in the league.

There was a lot of excitement when the Broncos added another pass-rushing star to their defense Thursday.
