Mother accused of setting auto on fire with three kids inside

Last night in downtown Houston, a woman pulled up to a carwash and began revving her engine. Witnesses came over to see what was going on and saw a woman with three children in the vehicle.

A Texas mother is accused of telling their three young children that they're "going to see Jesus" before setting their auto on fire.

Once officials started to approach the woman, she fled on foot with her children tow. They said the mother, who eventually was located by police and taken into custody, tried dragging the 9-year-old toward a bayou, KHOU reported. She reportedly tripped and fell.

A Precinct 7 deputy constable caught up with the woman.

The mother has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a family member.

The children were not harmed in the incident, Houston Police confirmed. Reports indicated that she will undergo a mental health evaluation. HFD Arson is investigating.
