They will be touring the country and, of course, visiting Focus on the Family's headquarters to promote the book. "It's not some adult book telling Mike Pence to go f- himself, although in buying it, that's exactly what you would be doing", Oliver concluded. "None of us can enjoy a book about your rabbit".
That led Oliver to the one thing he likes about Pence, and since Pence seems set on ruining even that, Last Week Tonight wrote a book. "Sweet, funny, and beautifully illustrated, this book is dedicated to every bunny who has ever felt different". You'll notice right away that our rabbit has a bow tie, so there's that. There's also a Pence character in Oliver's book-he's a white-haired Stink Bug. Bundo is indeed popular; he just released his own children's book and book tour, which will visit Focus on the Family, which advocates for anti-LGBT policies such as "conversion therapy".
Oliver released his book Sunday, just one day ahead of the original book's scheduled publication date of March 19. According to Oliver, all proceeds will support the Trevor Project, a crisis intervention and suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ+ youth, and AIDS United, an organization working to end the AIDS epidemic in the US. "Marlon Bundo is the most likeable thing about an otherwise unlikeable man", Oliver said during the segment. The audio book, available at Audible.com, features the voices of Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, John Lithgow, Jack McBrayer, and Jeff Garlin, among others.
"And that may be completely clear about this". The book is described this way: "With its message of tolerance and advocacy, this charming children's book explores issues of same-sex marriage and democracy".
Oliver's book is now an Amazon bestseller. But Oliver promised Pence supporters he'd say at least one nice thing about Pence before the segment was over, and that he did: "I kind of like his rabbit". Not only does Marlon Bundo have his own Instagram, he also has his own children's book out this week.
