Charles Barkley, Dick Vitale rip into Oklahoma's selection for NCAA tournament

"This is going to be the first time in the history of Providence College that a recruiting class goes to four consecutive [NCAA] tournaments, and I can't be more proud of this group for doing so, which is really, really hard to do", said PC head coach Ed Cooley in his post-game press conference following the win over Creighton in the Big East Tournament.

Oklahoma State went 19-14 and 8-10 in the tough Big 12.

The No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners will take on the No. 7 Rhode Island Rams in the Midwest Region Round one of the NCAA Tournament March Madness on Thursday, start time at 12:15 PM ET, at PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, PA. Oklahoma vs Rhode Island live stream is on CBS stream.

Each had a different critique of Oklahoma, with Barkley noting the way the Sooners stumbled badly down the stretch and Vitale wondering how they could have been chosen over in-state rival Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma owns an 18-13 record behind the fifth-highest-scoring offense in the country, averaging 85.2 points per game. They had some absolutely great wins. "A long year, and we've had the extremes all in one season.very good play to less than that by a lot".

SU did just that, including knocking off then-No.

Four players are averaging at least 8.0 points per game for Oklahoma, they are Trae Young (27.4), Christian James (12.1), Brady Manek (10.4) and Kameron McGusty (8.0).

The schools implicated in the FBI investigation included Arizona, Auburn, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and Southern California. They beat Kansas twice, including on the road, West Virginia on the road, Oklahoma twice, and Texas Tech.

Disappointed? You bet I am.

An ESPN colleague of Vitale's, Jay Bilas, also didn't think much of the Sooners' inclusion in the field.

Well, probably. You never know what the NCAA committee is thinking.
