It is located south of Hermosillo, Sonora, in a territorial extension of 190 hectares defined as an area of ecological reserve, to the preserve many of the natural attributes prototype of one of the semi-desert ecosystems of the Entity and at the same time is considered as a lung of the city. This place is considered as a heritage of Sonorans.

It began its construction in 1989 and was inaugurated on June 20, 1992 by the President of the Republic, Carlos Salinas de Gortari and Mr. Manlio Fabio Beltrones Constitutional Governor of the State of Sonora (1991-1997), since that date he has operated uninterruptedly, attending to the Sonoran population that visits him, as well as inhabitants of other states of the Mexican Republic and countries of the world. c) Today's Zoo :

What We Can See:
Its main attraction is the zoo, animals, some in danger of extinction. It has a great variety of plants and entertainment centers. In addition, you can see the centenary tree that was planted when the zoo opened its doors in 1992. There is also a museum in the place.

Preservation for the Future: > The aim is to keep the Zoo in operation, such as the preservation of species through reproduction.

Among other things, the support of both Private and Governmental or Public for its maintenance and habitat research to improve it and caring for the animals are looking for suitable places for their relocation or creation

Brief Description of the Type of Zoo:

It is a very large scenario with different species of endangered animals, which contributes to the repopulation of ecological reserves.

It is a totally fenced area with an immense natural ecosystem. Among its features has a large space for walking, the animals are tidy and has a skating area. Inside it is an artificial lake, where you can paddle to enjoy some time of your stay in that place.

The zoo is considered a natural area where you can know more about animals.

Soil characteristics

Mostly sandy with some limestone rocks. They are very old soils highly rich in iron and silicon.

Thorny bushes abound, and a large number of cacti, which are very well adapted to the demanding conditions of the environment; being able to retain liquids for a long time in their tissues and use water very efficiently.

The desert is a quiet place with a lot of influence from the wind and the water. These factors sweep the upper layers of the soil, severely eroding the landscape that is devoid of vegetation. Deserts can be produced by the influences of the sea currents in the continental air masses. The sea currents will cool when crossing over this water carrying fog and humidity but without causing precipitation, preventing the rain to reach the continental areas near the coast. D) Obtaining Resources:

We can get resources by implementing different programs:
