Mike Zimmer doesn't sound sold on Case Keenum

Zimmer talked about his three quarterbacks Thursday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis much more freely than the general manager did on Wednesday, which is understandable because Rick Spielman will be the one ultimately picking the Vikings' 2018 quarterback.
If you're waking up from a blissful winter hibernation and just now catching up to things, the last three Vikings seasons have featured three different primary starting QBs: Teddy Bridgewater in 2015, Sam Bradford in 2016 and Case Keenum in 2017.
Barkley said he embraces the chance to transform a downtrodden team like the Browns, who have one win in two years, or the Giants, coming off a down year: "You want to be part of something like that, something that's bigger than yourself".
He also said there have been ongoing conversations with the agents for Keenum, Bradford and Bridgewater. Sam Bradford also appears to be on his way out. Most notably, the team's quarterback selection for the upcoming campaign.
Zimmer said his wish for Keenum is that he goes on to have an outstanding career, adding, "hopefully it's with me, but if not I wish him the best of luck". Cousins' price tag reportedly has gone up to $30 million to $35 million a year, and numerous teams will chase him.
Bridgewater was inactive in the playoffs, although he said after the loss to the Eagles ended Minnesota's season that he views himself as a starting quarterback.More news: Trump Backs Arming Teachers, But an Old Tweet Says Exactly the Opposite
The Vikings have gotten shockingly little in return ever since they drafted Laquon Treadwell with the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. That leaves teams like the Broncos and Vikings making contingency plans if Cousins spurns them.
"He thinks he's trying to get better, trying to get better, he's just going about it the wrong way. His contract will not be tolled for the period he is on PUP, except in the past year of his contract, when the player's contract will be tolled if he is still physically unable to perform his football services as of the sixth regular season game". Minnesota signed Murray last offseason as the expected replacement for Adrian Peterson, but offseason surgery on his ankle kept him sidelined from March until late August.
Keenum stepped in after Bradford went down after a Week 1 knee injury and helped lead the Vikings to the NFC North Division title and a 13-3 regular season record.
"After we get here, after we get done looking at some of these young draftable guys, so we'll kind of sit down and figure out the direction we're going. If we don't do that, then I'll probably get fired".
Zimmer praised all three Vikings quarterbacks for their contributions but pointed out the uncertainty with each option. "This kid is a great competitor".
"Laquon needs to get out of his own way", Zimmer said, via NFL.com. "I'm glad it's going on because the quarterback cannot have pressure, but if it doesn't have [a pocket] to step into, what's the point?" "You go back and you look at what he's done in the past and where he's at this year".
