Absorption of iron in the intestine helps you to relieve "anemia of pregnancy":

You have become pregnant and suddenly on your first visit or after the gynecologist this tells you that you suffer from the so-called "anemia of pregnancy", so to try to get the iron levels in blood again are adequate, here are some small food advice that I hope will help you:

Food rich in vitamin C. It is recommended to drink orange juice with iron supplements, or seasoning meats, fish and vegetables with lemon juice to better absorb iron . It is also good to take vegetables with peppers, tomatoes, or vegetables from the cabbage family (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.) that are very rich in vitamin C.

Acidic foods such as citrus, fruits with malic acids such as apples, etc.

Folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12. They also improve absorption.

Cooking with frying pans and iron pots. The old pans were a constant source of iron for the food that was cooked in them, now you can find more modern pans and pots.

Protein-rich foods. Proteins favor the absorption of iron. Combining iron-rich plant foods with high-protein foods such as eggs, milk, meat or fish improves absorption.

Foods that reduce iron absorption and are not due take with iron supplements: Foods rich in phytates. Phytates appear on the cover of cereal grains, especially wheat bran, whole grains or whole grain breads and legumes. To avoid this, you can leave these foods to soak overnight to hydrolyze the phytate or choose whole-grain fermented bread.

Food rich in tannins. The tannins of tea, coffee, wine and chocolate reduce the absorption of iron, so you should allow at least one hour between the intake of supplements or foods rich in iron and these tannins.

The excess of some minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, zinc, cobalt, cadmium, lead, etc., compete with substances that absorb iron and reduce its absorption. To avoid it you should not take mineral supplements without medical advice.

Dairy calcium, antacids, foods high in fat, some food preservatives like EDTA and iosvitine egg yolk.
