India "Substantially Above Board" than China: Trump Jr On Doing Business

"Trump is here - Are You Invited?" the headline of one ad reads, before offering home buyers the opportunity to pay about $38,000 to "join Mr. Donald Trump Jr. for a conversation and dinner".

In all 254 flats of different sizes are up for sale costing almost 820,000 US dollars and above.

A full page advertisement that ran on the cover of several Indian newspapers over the weekend featured a picture of Trump Jr., alongside the tagline "Trump is here". The project is scheduled for completion in March 2023.

"The idea that the president's son would be going and shilling the president's brand at same time Donald Trump is president and is managing strategic and foreign relations with India - that is just freakish", he told the New York Times.

In May previous year, the company owned by the family of Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, pulled out of a real estate presentation in China.

Daniel Markey, who held South Asia portfolio on Secretary's Policy Planning Staff at the US Department of State during 2003-07, said Trump Jr's involvement in the Indian venture was surprising.

President Trump handed over the reins of his business empire to sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, before his presidential inauguration.

During his trip, Trump Jr will also meet Indian investors and business leaders in the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon.

"We know that father and son talk all the time, and discuss business", Norman Eisen, a Brookings Institution senior fellow and chairman of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, told CNN.

Daughter Ivanka Trump visited in November to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, at a time that sales were about to start on some Trump Organization residential projects.

Details of his full remarks have yet to be disclosed, but cooperation between India nations in the Pacific region and the USA may be addressed.

Donald Trump Jr in an interview said he has been cultivating relationships in India for a decade and that his company was now seeing the response of that effort.

Talking about his trip earlier this month, Trump Jr. said, "India is such an incredible country and our brand has enjoyed tremendous success in the region for many years".

"I had no idea that Trump built property around the world before this development was launched", said Hitesh Khanna, who is helping sell units at the Trump towers in Gurgaon through a local real estate brokerage firm. M3M is building the Gurgaon towers in a partnership with the Trump Organization's main India representative, Tribeca Developers.
