Lindsey Vonn's canine turns into meme after lengthy journey to Olympics

Sofia Goggia is going into her first Winter Olympics with the aim of stealing the show from American superstar Lindsey Vonn.

"It's really hard for me not to cry", Vonn said when asked about Don Kildow, who died in November at the age of 88.

"I want to end on a high note", she told a press conference yesterday.

"Yeah, um, I'm not sure where to start, exactly", Shiffrin said, rolling her eyes a bit as she searched for the right words.

"My grandfather taught my father how to ski".

This is Vonn's fourth Olympics. I really had hoped that he would be alive to see me, but I know he's watching and I know he's going to help me. "But in 2018, I'm a much stronger athlete, not just physically but mostly mentally".

Vonn said she was questioning whether she was going to bring Lucy with her to PyeongChang because it's a long trip, "but she's always with me so I figured I need her for the most important event".

Yet she is in position to contend for medals - gold, even - in the three events she will contest, downhill, Super-G and combined.

At Vancouver in 2010, Vonn won the gold medal in the downhill, along with the bronze in the super-G.

Vonn said she was fortunate early in her career not to suffer many injuries, but "these last few years have really dinged me up".

She has won 10 of 23 World Cup races she entered this season - including five slalom victories and two in giant slaloms, her best two disciplines - and went 5-for-5 from January 1-9.

"Sometimes I think maybe I can't keep up with the best guys like I was years before, but I still try to believe and to give my best". The Olympics-bound athlete is the most accomplished female ski racer in history, with 78 World Cup wins under her belt. I think about him all the time, especially when I'm racing.

She estimates that she spent the equivalent of about three years on rehabilitation from various injuries; while Vonn reiterated Friday she plans to ski another season to eclipse Stenmark, when she mentioned the word "retirement", it was in the context of how long her knees will hold up.

"It's extremely lonely on the road and since I got divorced I had a lot of free time on my hands at night".

But the world cup hasn't been her focus this season - the Olympics has. "It's what I think about the first thing when I wake up and it's what I think about when I go to sleep". "She enjoys sleeping a majority of the day. Even though he had more wins, he had a different schedule than her and had many more opportunities and different risk tolerance". I got Lucy, she travels with me everywhere. Linsdey Vonn has been an Olympian since she was a teenager. My main focus this year was exclusively on the Olympics and I'm very happy with how I feel physically, mentally.
