A-list actors lead nominations in Razzies awards

The nominations for the 38th Golden Raspberries were announced today and unsurprisingly Transformers: The Last Knight is nominated for Worst Film of the Year.

"Transformers" leads the way as the best of the worst with nine nominations.

Jennifer Lawrence, Dakota Johnson and Mark Wahlberg are nominated for an award that honors the worst films in Hollywood - The Razzies. Big name franchises with one too many sequels dominate the pack, though there's definitely a few surprises in store in the Worst Actress category. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" won the Razzie for Worst Picture in 2009.

Fifty Shades Darker earned eight Razzie nods, while The Mummy picked up seven, and Baywatch and The Emoji Movie tied with four. Both Jennifer Lawrence (mother!) and Emma Watson (The Circle) were unexpectedly nominated despite delivering performances that most would deem unoffensive.

Apart from the biggest offenders, the Razzies showed little mercy for reboots like Baywatch and The Mummy, and for the ongoing shenanigans of Tyler Perry and Johnny Depp in roles they've played for over a decade.

In the running for Worst Supporting Actor are Javier Bardem for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Russell Crowe for The Mummy, Josh Duhamel and Anthony Hopkins for Transformers: The Last Knight and Mel Gibson for Daddy's Home 2.

Wahlberg is a worst actor nominee for his work in both, "Daddy's Home 2" and "Transformers: The Last Knight".

This year's ceremony will take place on Saturday 3 March, a day before the Oscars, where winners will receive the "tackiest Tinsel Town trophies".
