We offer accommodation in the Hotel Ciudad de Vigo, located in the heart of the city next to the sea port and historical csac of the city. Leaving the hotel turn left and a little further on we take the Autopista de Pontevedra. The motorway will take us after passing two tunnels to the Airport, whose exit is well signposted.

We will arrive at a roundabout where we will turn left until leaving the airport on our right. On this road we will follow 1 kilometer until the crossing that indicates: Redondela, where we will turn to the right until reaching that population. In Redondela we have two alternatives, if we turn to the entrance of the population to the right, we will have to cross it with some difficulty of traffic, the other alternative is to take to the left, to go towards Vigo for 700 meters and to turn right indicating : Pontevedra. Whatever the choice, we will be at the same point at the exit of Redondela in the national to Pontevedra. To 3 kilometers from here, we will find a deviation that indicates: O Viso 2,5 km. From there we will follow the indications that lead us to the Castle of Soutomaior. It is a medieval fortress where we can stroll through its gardens and visit its museum. It is a peaceful and welcoming place where you can make very good photographs for its idyllic surroundings and centenary trees.

On returning to the main road, take the left and follow signs for: Arcade, something less than 5 kilometers from the Castle and the ideal place to have some oysters, the best, in any of its many bars. In Arcade, leaving momentarily of the route, we can visit the old medieval bridge (Pontesampaio) where historical events were lived against the army of Napoleón in the year 1809, that also deserves some photograph, and to return to the general highway in the direction of Pontevedra.

Cloister Monastery of Poio

After the visit, we return to the road and we will pass by Combarro with its spectacular hórreos at the foot of the sea, continuous walking towards Sanxenxo. Tourist population that opens in the environment of the beach of Silgar. If we do not have more time it would be possible to return to Vigo by the fast route that connects this locality with the freeway Santiago-Vigo and in 40 minutes to be in the hotel or to follow the route O Grove.

On the way an indispensable stop is La Lanzada beach, one of the most known in Galicia, and it could almost be said that it "communicates" two tourist sites such as Sanxenxo and El Grove (where is the Island of the Toja). Of open sea, reason why the moderate swell is frequent and you have to be attentive to the indications of the banners. In summer it has services like baths, showers and beach bar ... But they do not open them until the "season" begins, so when it comes a good mayo ... You have to count on going to the bar that is on one end.

It is installed in a protected natural space that is part of the Umia-O Grove Intertidal Complex. Its importance lies in that it is a strategic stop for migratory water birds (some come there to winter and breeding, and other species only stop to rest and feed in the middle of their long journeys).

Nowadays, part of one of the towers and the hermitage that was the church of the fortress and that is of late Romanesque style is still standing. It has a single nave and a semicircular apse. Inside we can see the beautiful image of the Virgen de la Lanzada.

Another curiosity is that it is in this touristy beach where one of the most popular fertility rites in Galicia takes place. St. John's Eve is the night of the women who want to get pregnant. Although there are many variants of this rite, the best known is that the woman gets wet with the water of nine waves (which in theory symbolize the months of pregnancy).

Finally and following the coast we will arrive at the Grove and the Island of La Toja. After being used for centuries by the neighbors of O Grove for their agricultural and livestock tasks, in the mid-nineteenth century the Island of La Toja passed to private property that exploited its medicinal waters by building a spa that brought with it a spectacular increase in tourism , favored also by the excellent climatic conditions of the Island. United to O Grove by a beautiful bridge of principles of century and located in the cove of O Grove, the Island of La Toja counts on its famous spa, its casino of game, its golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, etc ...

In a walk through its streets of lush vegetation we will visit the San Sebastian hermitage, built in the 12th century and completely covered with scallop shells.

At last, we will take the expressway santiago-vigo motorway and return to vigo, starting point of the route.
