Fleshy berries or fruits such as strawberries, blackberries and raspberries, among others, are very popular in gardens and orchards because of their ease in planting, harvesting and consuming directly from the plant. This perennial plant has green, toothed and hairy leaves. Its flowers are white (sometimes pink) and we can find wild bushes. If we decide to sow it in our yard, it needs to be in full sun and be planted in an area that drains the water well. It needs moist soil, loose , deep and rich in organic matter . Preferably low acid and free from weeds. To protect it from the strong winds, you can sow it against a wall so it avoids to hurt its stems, especially when they contain with fruit.
Precisely, the fruit is harvested ripe and still shiny. During harvest season, gather every 3 to 4 days. Although its most common color is red, raspberry has other varieties of black and white color.
The raspberry is best propagated by sprouting and rooting. Also by division of the plant. It is recommended to prune after the harvest, especially the branches that fructified; to eliminate the excess of shoots or those that are weak. Ask at garden centers or nurseries specializing in exotic fruit.
With proper maintenance, the plant can last for several years. It can be paid once a year. Even so, it is recommended to start after a certain time and to rotate the crop.
