Bannon, back at his old role as the head of conservative news site Breitbart, has reportedly advised the president to shake up his legal team and do all he can to pressure Congress to defund Mueller's investigation, sources told Vanity Fair.
As indictments were unsealed against former Trump campaign staff and special counsel Robert Mueller revealed Monday that at least one ex-Trump campaign adviser has pleaded guilty to federal charges, Trump's frustration with Kushner has grown exponentially, Vanity Fair reported.
USA investigators are also reportedly looking into Tony Podesta, a prominent Democratic lobbyist, and Vin Weber, a former GOP congressman, the Associated Press reports. Separately, Trump official George Papadopoulos agreed to a plea deal, admitting he lied to FBI investigators.

As it turns out, the couple aren't well liked in Washington D.C., according to a Vanity Fair report from August that illuminated the extent to which people in their adopted hometown and in the White House view them as a feared and vindictive duo who are essentially powerless but who clueless about that reality. Sources close to the White House say they don't believe Kushner is a target of the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 United States election and whether Donald Trump's campaign team colluded with Moscow. Kushner didn't convince him to fire Comey, he was dying to fire Comey.
Kushner has come under scrutiny for attending a meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower, which was set up under the premise that she had dirt on Hillary Clinton. His attorneys have repeatedly said he will cooperate with Mr Mueller's investigators. The White House declined to comment.
The network based its report on "sources close to the White House". Trump fired Comey in May.
Manafort and business associate Rick Gates face 12 felony counts, including money laundering, conspiracy and acting as unregistered foreign agents.
The FBI is looking into possible obstruction of justice in the termination of Comey, who led the Russian Federation probe before Mueller took over.
