Katy Perry gets stuck mid-air on floating platform during Nashville concert

As a global pop megastar, Katy Perry's live shows go to outrageous extremes with stage design (as we saw during her basketball-themed performance of "Swish Swish" during the VMAs).

In fan-shot videos, the 13-time Grammy nominee awkwardly joked: "This is the first time I've been stuck in space". "I could be stuck here forever", she said.

"This thing is stuck right now, they're lowering me down - they're talking to me in my ear right now". Should I tell some jokes, should I tell some stories?

When the platform finally began its descent, Perry realized she'd have to step into the crowd to safely dismount the faulty prop.

At that, she jumped from Saturn onto a few adoring fans, where she crowd surfed for a moment before being guided back to stage by a member of her security team.

"It's stressful because you have to be... you have to critique in a short period of time and you don't want to get it wrong... you don't want to be the idiot that said no to the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood", the 41-year-old mused.

"I guess I'm just going to have to get down and walk amongst my people", the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer quipped before taking the leap.

The Bon Appétit belter later tweeted: 'SMASHVILLE aka Nashville u were an INCREDIBLE time tonight!

Every night so far on her Witness World Tour, Perry has sat down on a giant foam model of the planet Saturn and strummed her acoustic guitar for a couple of her quieter songs.

Luke Bryan and his fellow American Idol judges need to get "a little better" with their feuding.
