Wahlberg tops Rock as highest paid star

He is ahead of Dwayne Johnson, who occupied the first place a year ago, and especially Emma Stone, actress the best paid of Hollywood, but so much less than his colleague.

He reached the top spot despite the commercial disappointment of the recent Transformers film, while he will also star in forthcoming film Daddy's Home 2. The former, however, did not do well at the box office and only scored a 15 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Interestingly, it was the lowest grossing film of the franchise to date.

Hollywood actor, Mark Wahlberg has taken the number one spot, unseating The Rock on Forbes' 2017 highest-paid actors list.

Forbes just released their list of highest paid actors and it looks like Dwayne Johnson will have to celebrate second place this year. The publication noted that the movie's poor box office performance didn't impact Wahlberg's paycheck. Jeremy Renner had $19 million and Mark Ruffalo had $13 million to round out the list. His movies included Baywatch and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. He also voiced Groot in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.as well.

According to a study from the University of Southern California published past year, women account for 28.7% of the roles spoken in Hollywood. Third place with a total of $54.5 million was held by VIN Diesel, this year there was the eighth part of the action movie "fast and furious". While those two names may surprise you, it's important to keep in mind that Sandler's Netflix deal is extremely lucrative while Chan is a huge hit over in China, which is a very big market.

She was joined in the top five by Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy and Mila Kunis, all taking at least £12 million this year.

Rounding out the Top 10 highest paid actors is Robert Downey Jr.
