Six Flags will now only fly American flag

But one tradition at Six Flags is changing, and that is the six flags themselves: France, Spain, Mexico, The Lone Star, the U.S. Flag, and the Confederate flag.

As of this morning (Friday, Aug. 18), only the USA flag will fly over Six Flags.

"We always choose to focus on celebrating the things that unite us versus those that divide us", Six Flags Entertainment Corp spokeswoman Sharon Parker was quoted as saying in a statement that appeared in the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

A day after announcing that no, it wouldn't remove the Confederate flag from the theme park's marquee, Six Flags Over Texas has decided that maybe it's a good idea. Stop authorities already revealed to TMZ they saw a basic contrast between the banner they fly and the Confederate Battle Flag. As of Friday, all of the flags have been replaced with American flags in both locations.

From now on, only one flag will fly over Six Flags amusement parks. "Since that time, the park has moved on to incorporate many other themes".

Six Flags has more than a dozen locations, including parks in California and NY. Also removed were the flags of four other nations that have ruled over Texas, leaving only United States flags flying in their place.

The debate about Confederate artifacts continues.

ARLINGTON-Six Flags is filled with tradition.

That was part of the company's rationale just yesterday, when it said it would not remove the Confederate flag.

The change came, park officials said, in response to the violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Va., caused when Nazis and white supremacists "rallied" supposedly in support of Confederate monuments and symbols.
