'Dukes of Hazzard' star denies grabbing colleague's buttocks

Tom Wopat, who starred on "Dukes of Hazzard", was arrested for indecent assault and battery in Waltham, TMZ reported. Wopat who played Luke Duke on the 1980s television show "The Dukes of Hazzard" pleaded not guilty to the charges. We're told the alleged victim is a woman connected with the production, and the incident involved Wopat allegedly putting his hands down her trousers.

The Boston Globe added that NY resident Wopat pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Waltham District Court on charges of indecent assault and battery and cocaine possession.

"During a rehearsal the defendant allegedly walked behind a female cast member, grabbing her buttocks", they said in an emailed statement.

According to law enforcement. police arrested 65-year-old Wopat Wednesday at 10:53 PM.

Wopat apparently denied the accusations and angrily stormed out, after which police were called. He did not comment upon leaving court. He said he flirts but did "nothing that could be considered inappropriate".

Scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on Thursday, hours before he is scheduled to open in a production of 42nd Street in Waltham on Thursday night. That's when they found a small bag of cocaine.

Wopat, married to his second wife, Kathy, has worked steadily since Dukes, on TV, on stage and in music.

He's appeared in movies like the Oscar-winning "Django Unchained" and "County Line". But the theater announced today that a different actor would play the role.
