In a press release from the office of Congressman Lee Zeldin, the Republican from NY had this to say before joining the President on Long Island. His last visit, to Patchogue in April of 2016 before he was the Republican nominee, was also filled with controversy over his stance on immigration, when he took part in a Republican fundraiser several blocks from where Ecuadorian immigrant Marcelo Lucero was murdered in a hate crime in 2008.
"Together we're going to restore safety to our streets and peace to our communities and we're going to destroy the vile, criminal cartel MS-13 and many other gangs", Trump said while flanked by local and state police.
Gang members are known for their ornate tattoos, which are meant to identify members for life, and the "devil's horn" hand symbol, which was created in the 1980s when numerous members would attend rock concerts in Los Angeles.
In making the fight against MS-13 a priority, Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday was in El Salvador, meeting with his counterpart to organize an attack on the gang in its home base.
President Trump will speak to members of law enforcement at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood about the gang violence that has been plaguing the community. He praised members of Law Enforcement from coast to coast, and vowed the eradication of savage gangs such as MS-13.
The organizers of the rally in Brentwood Park say they're concerned about the backlash this effort could have against law-abiding immigrants. The speech will be live-streamed. "We say loud and clear that he is not welcomed here". In his speech, Trump will lay out a plan of action to defeat the group, which was established by immigrants from Central American countries including El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. "Nothing could be further from the truth".More news: Iran: Space Program Claims a Successful Launch Into Orbit
The president also will meet with local law enforcement officers and also ending a message about his resolve to wipe out the MS-13 gang. "That is of mutual interest for all of us".
The New York Civil Liberties Union said at least nine minors have been placed in immigration detention due to unconfirmed allegations of gang affiliation by the Suffolk County Police Department.
"They're urging attendees to bring American flags and signs reading LI 3 Immigrants", "Immigrants Make America Great", "Love Thy Neighbor".
Addressing illegal immigrants, Trump said: "We will find you, we will arrest you, we will jail you, and we will deport you".
Blanca Villanueva, a lifelong Brentwood resident and advocate for public school education, accused Trump of "using our tragedy for political gain, to fuel his hateful agenda". He added: "They're animals".
