Sanders insisted Trump's decision to ban transgender people from the armed forces was a "military decision", deriding it as an "Obama policy". The Commander-in-Chief claimed his decision was made in "consultation with my Generals and military experts". And Sanders was unable to offer many details on the change in policy - including what exactly it means for transgender servicemembers now deployed overseas.
Sanders responded to the plea saying, "I am happy to say that I directly spoke to the president, Dylan, and he would be more than happy to be your friend".
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, named as the new White House press secretary, looks on during a press briefing at the White House in Washington, DC on July 21, 2017. "I am nine years old and you're my favorite president". Dylan wrote that Trump is his "favrit president" and that he had a Trump-themed birthday with a cake in the shape of Trump's hat. As a Marine, she was out as queer but not as transgender, she said.
Irking reporters was precisely the point - and a prime example of why putting the briefings back on television is a smart move by the White House. Olivia Nuzzi of NY tweeted, "This is not what the briefing is for". Even though Politico reviewed this document by simply requesting it through the proper channels, Scaramucci fired off a tweet labeling its release a "leak" and "a felony" and adding Priebus's Twitter handle to the end of the message - which many interpreted as Scaramucci publicly blaming his archrival.More news: Mollema secures stage 15 victory at Tour de France
On Wednesday morning, Donald Trump announced that transgender individuals will no longer be allowed to serve in the United States military-a policy that, it's believed, could require the expulsion of thousands of service members, including those who are now deployed in or near combat zones.
"No, I can not confirm that Sean Spicer will be on Dancing with the Stars before leaving the White House", she said as reporters laughed. "So I'd like to continue to use the hair and makeup person". But if those are the only questions we have, I'm going to call it a day.
"It crossed my mind that I had been an obvious choice and that perhaps they thought it was easier just to have me take over officially since there wasn't that much time left in the administration".
NPR White House Correspondent Tamara Keith shared a photograph of the letter on Twitter, noting that it was the full text of the letter that Sanders read during the briefing.
