The First Official Trailer for Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One

Watch the READY PLAYER ONE trailer below. In case it's not yet obvious, before watching this trailer I had little to no idea what Ready Player One was and without the synopsis above I honestly still wouldn't.

Ready Player One is an adaptation of a novel by Ernest Cline, set in the 2040s when society appears hooked on a giant virtuality reality experience called Oasis. The movie stars Tye Sheridan as Parzival, a kid who is hunting through the digital OASIS for clues that will allow one user to inherit the tech company that controls it.

Today at San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. released the first trailer for its upcoming film Ready Player One, and like the novel it's based on, it's loaded down with references to everything geek culture loves. These are just a few of the pop culture touchstones that will be featured in Steven Spielberg's retro futuristic wonderland Ready Player One. Sure, he's floundered a touch with the DOA The BFG and I can't say I was immensely taken with Lincoln, but it's this genre where his vision truly shines. We also got a glimpse of Watts' vehicle, the classic Back to the Future Delorean, Kaneda's motorcycle from Akira, and a attractive shot of Iron Giant from Iron Giant.

About the source material's focus on the future, the filmmaker quipped, "I read the book, and said, 'They're going to need a younger director'".

Spielberg also revealed the movie will premiere in March 2018. Starring in this sci-fi madness are Tye Sheridan, Mark Rylance (in every Spielberg movie lately), T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Cooke and many more.
