Chelsea interested in signing Sergio Aguero

Conte's team missed out on signing 24-year-old Romelu Lukaku from Everton, snatched away in a £75 million (about $98 million) deal by Jose Mourinho's Manchester United.

However, Sky Sports News understand it will be very hard for Antonio Conte and Chelsea to sign the striker from Manchester City who have "never sold a player they don't want to sell".

When asked if Aguero was staying earlier this summer, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: 'Absolutely. "It has never been in doubt". The Blues are very much in the market, looking to sign a world-class striker after Antonio Conte informed Diego Costa that the Spanish striker is not in his plans for next season.

The Premier League champions have been linked with Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata and Torino's Andrea Belotti - but may end up signing a striker closer to home.

The Argentinian seemed to fall out of favour at the Etihad last season under Pep Guardiola, with the Catalan preferring Gabriel Jesus to the club legend Aguero. I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous.

It is hardly surprising the Sky Blues are reportedly not open to selling Aguero, especially not to a direct rival, as he is one of the best strikers in Europe. The City board sees the Argentinean striker as their most important and marketable player and not one who can be properly replaced.

But now it looks like Chelsea will turn their attentions to Sergio Aguero as they look to defend their league title next season. "It has never been in doubt", he added.
