Xi snubs Sharif by skipping bilateral meet after murder of Chinese nationals

Modi further said terrorism is one of the chief violators of human rights and values. Business and economic connect would be an important aspect of India's full membership of SCO. Counterterrorism is a key goal of SCO members and has a special centre at Tashkhen for that objective.
On the other hand, during his speech following India and Pakistan's accession to SCO as permanent members, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated his Indian counterpart over the development however, the favour was not returned by the Indian leader under whose command border violations have worsened between the two neighbouring arch rivals.
"I have full confidence that the India-SCO cooperation will give a new direction and strength to the fight against terrorism", PM Modi added.

The regional pact was established in 2001 and comprises of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
PM Modi met Xi on the sidelines of the Summit and underscored the need to respect each other's "core concerns" and appropriately handle the disputes.
The expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) carries historic significance as India and Pakistan become full members of the bloc, SCO leaders said on Friday.
Mr. Modi also held an important bilateral meeting with President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistanand condemned the recent spate of bombings in the Afghan capital Kabul. Xi's snub comes after deep disappointment and grief felt in China over the killings, after two Chinese teachers were kidnapped in Quetta last month and were reportedly murdered by Islamic State terrorists. India and Pakistan were admitted to the SCO group as observers in 2005 and began the administrative process of joining the organisation in 2015.
