From Portland, Oregon To The World & ndash; Ahmad Rashad (English & Spanish) - Oregon Sports News

Last Saturday night I joined the over 93,000 soccer fanatics at the Pasadena Rose Bowl as the US National Soccer team played against Mexico's. While I can not say I was one of the lucky ones to physically be there, I am glad to say thank goodness for the opportunity to experience it through TV with such amazing commentators who help us feel the emotions and take us to a place where it It feels like we are there as well.

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my father watching sports. Anything from soccer, to boxing, to even the Tour de France! My father is a passionate sports fan and I would say the most energetic one I have ever seen in my life. I have jumps, screams, directs and even calls the play if he has the chance!

With that said, the world of sports in television is a must for fans like my dad and, yes, I included as well . As I found myself last Saturday watching the game, it was the voice of one of my favorite commentators, Pablo Ramirez "The Tower of Jalisco" (The Tower of Jalisco), who helped my blood start to boil. The match was one of the most intense I have seen in years and I have no doubt that Mr. Ramirez made the whole experience.

This obviously got me to think and wonder who these commentators are. What do we know about them? Sure some are obvious athletes, but some to us may be unknown. The reality is that sports enthusiasts, we all have a place to run to. We identify with a specific network, or even a channel. Hey, maybe we know one of those breath and live ESPN all day long! Whoever it is you are, the bottom line is that those commentators, anchormen and women are part of the experience that sports brings to our hearts. Of course, the more I thought about this, the more I became curious and wanting to learn more. Especially about the talent that represents the Pacific Northwest across the world.
