'Timeless' No Longer Canceled, NBC Renews for Season 2!

"Timeless" follows the time-traveling adventures of history professor Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), U.S. Army Delta Force soldier Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter), and programmer Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett). While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of Flynn, a risky fugitive. The Shawn Ryan-Eric Kripke drama did not get a full-season pickup, with NBC instead opting for a 16-episode season.

NBC went back in time and un-canceledTimeless in a surprising reversal, giving the freshman series season 2. "Seriously. Airs next summer". While the ratings for Timeless struggled in this measure at the end of the season, it produced fantastic numbers after the fact, and was ranked higher than the majority of other network scripted shows when you took all of the data into account. Even celebrities were offering their outrage and even Eric Kripke, the show's creator, chimed in saying that they were looking to find a new home for Timeless. Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones and William Shatner were among those tweeting their outrage on Wednesday night. However, because of the delayed decision, the series will now be a summer entry into the 2018 schedule, bringing new meaning to "better late than never".

However, Kripke later corrected his tweet, with Ryan following up: "A lot of info flying".

Also renewed for a second season, albeit in a more conventional way, was Starz's American Gods.

"And then we woke up the next morning, heard the outcry (from fans)". While it's unclear exactly what saved the new show, it appears fan support was a major factor.

Kripke added: "So huge thanks to NBC for supporting us". "We went back to the drawing board in every way".
