AMBER Alert issued for Hampton Child

Virginia State Police issued the AMBER Alert for 10-month-old Chloe Johnson on Thursday night.

Concerns continued to grow because Johnson usually kept in close contact with family members, talking to them several times a day. Kier was preparing to take Chloe out to Buckroe Beach in Hampton.

Ten days later, police upgraded the case to a possible abduction.

Sult said Johnson has no history of running away and it's out of character for her to be out of touch with friends and family. Johnson had a scheduled week off from work, although she planned to stay in the area.

Sult said he wouldn't comment as to whether police have any suspects or people of interest, saying only, "the investigation thus far has not revealed enough evidence to release any suspect identifiers to the public".

Since the launch of the Amber Alert system, a total of 868 children were successfully rescued and returned to their guardians as of February 24, 2017, according to a fact sheet from Missing Kids.

They last were seen in the 1900 block of Hastings Drive in Hampton, Virginia.

"Chloe Johnson is 2'5" tall and weighs 20 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a tee-shirt and glasses. She also has black hair and brown eyes.
