Microsoft announces huge updates, new products and more

New features of the codenamed Redstone 3 update include user interface change part of what Microsoft calls Fluent Design System and Timeline functions as well as OneDrive Files On-Demand. The launch will allow a greater number of developers to jump on-board and start creating skills that will make liberal use of web applications and other related services in creating their own skills for the Cortana Artificial assistant. Terry Myerson, Microsoft's executive vice president of the Windows and devices group, revealed the update during Day Two of Microsoft's Build developer conference on Thursday.

The update, which will be available this summer, includes a new tool to help users switch from their laptop to phone to tablet with relative ease.

Tell your story your way: Today at Build we unveiled a big update coming to the Windows 10 Creators Update and the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. You can be as hands-on as you want (advanced 3D features are supported), or let the app do nearly everything to make memorable content out of the memories that you feed into it.

The personal assistant Cortana will also understand what you're working on across different machines, whether it's a phone or your computer.

All files will be viewable from the File Explorer regardless of whether they're stored in the cloud or on the device. An older version of this feature appeared in Windows 8.1, and people have been asking for it since.

If you're a registered Windows Insider, you'll be testing some of these features before too much longer. Interestingly enough, this works with files in the Desktop and Documents folder, so it isn't just limited to files in the OneDrive folder. This is implemented at a low level in the operating system and works with any application, even command line ones.

With all the other new and exciting news announced at Microsoft Build 2017 today, Microsoft released Windows 10 SDK Preview build 16190. The Fall Creators Update, likely to arrive in September, aims to bring aspects of the Windows experience everywhere you go.

"Microsoft has made a disruptive announcement in embedding its Graph technology into the next version of Windows 10", said James Kobielus, lead analyst for data science, deep learning and application development at Wikibon, owned by the same company as SiliconANGLE.
