Middle school student arrested for bringing gun to school

The North Mason School District Superintendent told KING5 there was no longer an active shooter at the school.

The Mason County Sheriff's Office first told KIRO 7 News that they responded to a confirmed report of a shooting in the cafeteria on Wednesday morning.

The Kitsap Sun reports that authorities detained a student at the neighboring North Mason High School who allegedly brought a gun to school.

"The district is continuing in lock-down while law enforcement thoroughly searches the campus. The district remains in lockdown at this time", the school district posted on its Facebook page.

Police said they had a heavy presence heading to the scene of the middle school in Mason County, Washington.

"At this point in time we still are in lockdown", Rosenbach said. "We have not confirmed that there were any shots at all of any kind".
