This year the date falls on 22 April 2017.

They will come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.

"Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion". Their concept is to link the gap between technology, art and lifestyle.

"People see how much fun it is to shop for music in this old fashioned format of actually going into a store and you can flip through and look at things, talk to other people, oh you like that record?"

Gaddy said that in 2013 he had a line of about 20 people outside his store at the beginning of the day. CDs have gone down and Vinyl is coming back in a huge way. "That's what most people come out to do".

Brick-and-mortar records stores are not only surviving the digital music era, but finding growth opportunities to open many new stores nationwide, according to the Associated Press.

"We get anything from 18-yearolds to 60-year-olds", Baratono said.

Another local record store, Deep Groove Records in Phoenixville, is also participating in the Record Store Day excitement. Seeking to snag a piece of the vinyl pie, total industry sales have skyrocketed from just 990,000 units in 2007 to more than 13 million in 2016 ... a 1,225% increase in vinyl LP sales over the last decade. "This year, we went with Kelly [Carter] from Four Dog Creative in Wilmington", Brewer said.

In Swindon, record fans and DJs will be queuing up to be first for the latest releases in Red House Records within Holmes Music on Faringdon Road. The store is opening early with exclusive releases for Record Store Day.

Record Store Day sets a new record at independent Wollongong business Music Farmers. "The big draw for collectors is the limited edition discs that are only available on National Record Store Day". "That's a whole decade's worth of a unique annual event whose goal has been to bring folks together in support of those essential elements that make independent record stores real and thriving epicenters of their communities".

Calling it an "excuse to throw one of the biggest parties of the year" at the store, Record Store Day will be celebrated at both Guestroom locations, 3701 N. Western Ave., and 125 E. Main Street in Norman.
