A video has now surfaced shot by fan Brian Midkiff on the moment Dave took to the stage to remember Murphy with Mayer's help.
As we reported on Wednesday night, stand up comedian and performer Charlie Murphy sadly passed away, aged 57. "Everybody in comedy is heartbroken" the comedian noted, honoring the man who gave us "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories", which rank among the most iconic sketches from Chapelle's Show.
Chappelle asked Mayer to conclude their time with a song dedicated to Murphy.
In one sketch, James is shown as an impulsive big-mouth who keeps spouting, "I'm Rick James, (expletive)!" and trades punches with Murphy.More news: For Better Or Worse, Trump And GOP Now Own Health Care
"Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie", the family said Wednesday.
Murphy rose to fame and was well-known for his appearances on Dave Chappelle's Comedy Central show. Our prayers and condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Murphy. He voiced a role in the animated TV series that includes "The Boondocks" and also appeared in the comedy series "Black Jesus".
Charlie Murphy, a comedian and older brother of famous actor Eddie Murphy, is reportedly dead.
One day before his death, Murphy tweeted: "One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible". He has also starred on shows such as "Are We There Yet?", "1000 Ways to Die" and recently the Starz series "Power".
