Akshay Kumar Sonam Kapoor win at the National Film Awards

In 64th National Film Awards, Akshay Kumar won the title of Best Actor for the film "Rustom".

Kumar's performance in Rustom, based on the sensational KM Nanavati murder trial of 1959, is one of his laziest.

Besides "Kaasav", Rajesh Mapuskar won the best director award for his film "Ventilator".

But the director says previous year Ramesh Sippy was head of the jury and none questioned his good friend Amitabh Bachchans best actor win, so why should he and Akshay be subjected to such allegations. It has won the best film award in Telugu among all the entries.

Akshay Kumar has been honored with a National Award for Best Actor for his role as Naval Commander Rustom Pavri in the 2016 crime thriller Rustom.

The actress received a special mention for her critically-lauded performance.

The Best Film on Social Issues was given to Bollywood film "Pink", while Nagesh Kukunoor's Hindi movie "Dhanak" won the Best Children's Film.

Kashmiri actress Zaira Wasim was named the best supporting actress for her role in Aamir Khan-starrer "Dangal". Not only a best actor you r, but a best human being too.

Though there was a jubilant mood in Kannada film industry after six awards were announced to Kannada and its regional language films, there was a voice of dissent as well. "Some of the Marathi and Bengali films were brilliant and better".

Meanwhile, speaking about Tharun's award for Best Dialogues, Priyadarshi, who starred in the film and was appreciated for his dialogue delivery, said, "I think the biggest USP of the film's dialogues was that they were very relatable. It had literally no competition from anyone else", national film awards jury chairman S Priyadarshan told TOI.

Bapu Padmanabha, flautist, and Hariprasad Chaurasia's disciple, has won the national award for best music for Allama.

Congratulating the Marathi film industry, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "While there was a time when Marathi movies were known for their storytelling, gradually the technical aspect has become high-standard".

Raju Sundaram bagged the Best Choreographer award for NTR-starrer "Janatha Garage".

Mohanlal won the special jury mention for his roles in films Janatha Garage (Telegu), Puli Murugan and Munthirivallikal Thaliorkumbol (Malayalam).
