When I sign a contract I commit to it until the final day. Sanchez will certainly "face a battle with Arsenal" in the summer if he really does decide to leave the club for another Premier League team.
Sanchez's contract at Emirates Stadium expires in 2018 and, with Arsenal enduring a tough season as they lie sixth in the Premier League, speculation has suggested the Chile worldwide could leave.
Wenger said he was confident that Sanchez and Arsenal would reach an understanding and that he would sign a new contract eventually.
Sanchez has been a key figure for Arsenal this season, scoring 18 goals in 28 Premier League outings.
Alexis is Arsenal's top-scorer this season, netting 17 goals in the Premier League alone, and replacing the Chilean could be a hard, and expensive, task.
Even if Hazard stays, Alexis Sanchez could work out brilliantly as an upgrade to Pedro, making the pairing of Hazard and Alexis perhaps the deadliest one in the Premier League.More news: Republicans still negotiating to replace Obamacare: US President Donald Trump
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes attempts to make the argument for why the Chilean would make the most acrimonious move possible: "Sanchez wants a capital city club with a winning mentality and now that Spurs are back in the title race, the odds of a sensational switch across the North London divide are shortening by the minute". The French outfit is looking for quality player to lead their attack and while Edinson Cavani has done a good job, Zlatan is still sorely missed by the defending champions.
If the Chile global can not be convinced to extend, Merson does not think Chelsea's status as a rival club would stop Arsene Wenger from selling, given he would be desperate to avoid losing him for nothing the following year.
Wenger has stated on numerous occasions in the past when their top players have been linked to their rivals that they will not be sold, but they were eventually.
"I don't believe Arsenal will end in the top four and when they don't finish in the top four then I don't see him remaining".
"I definitely think Sanchez could be a Chelsea player next season".
