Ex punk-rocker O'Rourke launches longshot bid against Cruz

Rep. Joaquin Castro also recently played around with the idea of running for Cruz's seat.
In an email to supporters last week, the O'Rourke campaign teased an unspecified "big announcement".
"So you don't know until you do it", O'Rourke said.
A Cruz spokesperson declined to comment on the announcement.

Cruz's seat is considered a long-shot bid for Democrats in a deeply conservative state like Texas.
"He's been running for president for four years while he should have been serving the people in Texas", said the 44-year-old third-term congressman, who would enter next year's contest against Cruz as a considerable underdog in Republican-leaning Texas.
Jones added that Castro "has always led the charge on tough fights, so one way or another, he will be on the front lines of the 2018 midterm elections doing everything he can to continue to hold Republicans accountable".
