Part Of Las Vegas Strip Closed For Shooting Investigation

The shooting near the Cosmopolitan Hotel took place just hours after burglars besieged a jewellery store in the another casino hotel overnight.

Part of the Las Vegas Strip was reportedly shut down on Saturday after a shooter killed one person and wounded another.

Police say the suspect is believed to have barricaded himself on a bus on Las Vegas Boulevard. Police stood watch near the bus. One of the victims has since died.

Hadfield said there is no active-shooter situation inside any of the Strip's casinos.

Police have confirmed one person has been shot and transported to UMC Trauma. "There is no credible information that there is a second suspect", Hadfield said.

The Cosmopolitan Hotel, near where the bus was parked, said its staff was cooperating with police but that it had no other details about the shooting. Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Officials have closed Las Vegas Boulevard between Flamingo Road and Harmon Avenue.

This is a developing story.
