Teenager dies as auto rams scooter in Delhi

The teenaged boy was rushed to the nearest hospital immediately after the accident. The victim, identified as a class XI student Atual Arora, was riding the scooter when the speeding auto hit his vehicle, the reports said.

On Sunday, his family had organised a "bhandara" at an ashram located in Sunder Vihar area and Atul was on his way home from the ashram. The speeding Mercedes lost control near G Block and rammed into the scooter. The Mercedes driver fled the scene and is on the run. However, he was declared dead as he received serious head injuries.

DCP (Outer) Rishi Pal said that they are trying to identify the offending vehicle and the incident is under investigation.

The police said that the Mercedes, which was being driven at a speed of over 100 kmph, dragged the victim along to about 50 metres.

According to sources, the police officials have identified the Mercedes which was involved in the accident with the help of CCTV footage. His mother, Sangeeta Arora, is a teacher and he has two elder sisters - Ruchi and Archana. He was a student of class 11.
