Dave Chappelle Netflix specials get March release date, new teaser

"Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy - searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential", said Lisa Nishimura, VP of Original Documentary and Comedy, in a previous statement.

Dave Chappelle is back. Chappelle filmed the first at the Moody Theater in Austin during 2015, following up with another performance at the The Palladium in Los Angeles a year later. The deal was announced in November, and thanks to a new teaser, we now know that the initial two will be released March 21.

The premiere of these stand-up events marks Chappelle's first aired concert specials in 12 years.

Though there's no word yet on when the third special featuring the comedian will come to Netflix, there's no question that this will be one of Netflix's most successful specials of all time. Now, soon has a date that is circled with a big red marker on my calendar and I can't wait to see what Chappelle will have us laughing and thinking about in them.

He has starred in hit films like Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Nutty Professor, and You've Got Mail, among others, as well as headlined - and later infamously walked away from - Chappelle's Show.

The company has made a huge effort to bring in comedians, ranging from a reported $40 million for a pair of specials from Chris Rock, to a reported $100 million for Jerry Seinfeld's entire series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in addition to a pair of stand-up specials. The comic and the television streaming service have listened to fans and are releasing two of the episodes on March 21st.
