Popular running app Strava has been updated with support for the Apple Watch Series 2, enabling runners to use Strava on their wrist and leave their iPhone at home. Previously, athletes had to simultaneously carry their smart phone in order to record to Strava, but the new app will allow users l advantage of the Apple watch's hardware capabilities by recording their workouts and heart rate data without their iOS device. There's no word whether changing touchscreen technology will provide any noticeable benefits for users. It will now focus on manufacturing 3D sensor-based touch panels for the Apple Watch Series 3 and will eventually stop the production of touch-on-lens solution that is being used so far.
The images on the patent filing revealed that a tiny wire will be connecting the battery on the strap to the back of the device, assumed to be Apple Watch Series 3.
Not much is known about Apple Watch Series 3 but a leak has now surfaced online, offering a little titbit about the rumored smartwatch.

Apple launched the Apple Watch series 2 past year along with the new iPhones.
Sources also mentioned that the G/F displays could be manufactured by Taiwanese company General Interface Solution or Hong Kong-based Biel Crystal Manufactory. TPK Holding has been responsible for producing glass on glass display panels for the Apple Watch since two years; however, the company has had many yield issues and hasn't been able to meet Apple's demand. However, TPK is said to be quitting the touch panel production for Apple Watch.
Previously Apple used a technique called glass-on-glass.
Apple Watch Series 3 will be the third generation smartwatches that were developed by Apple Inc. since the original model was released nearly two years ago. In turn, Apple is considering a new display technology for the upcoming third-generation smartwatch. Normal use saw the battery life extended to 18 hours.
