Metallica and Lady Gaga are performing at the Grammys together

Lady Gaga will reportedly join Metallica onstage for their performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Lady Gaga isn't eligible for any awards this year because her new album, "Joanne", was released past the 2016 deadline. It seems as though the unexpected duet might have been in the works for some time, particularly considering Gaga attended a Metallica concert in December 2016.

Details on what they will be performing are unclear, but the pairing is sure to make for one of the night's most anticipated performances. She joins a robust Grammys lineup that already includes Katy Perry, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, Metallica, Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars, Keith Urban, Adele, and Beyoncé.

Lady Gaga and Metallica will perform together at the Grammys in what will surely be a memorable moment.

Beyonce, who recently revealed she is pregnant with twins, is also expected to perform.

Metallica's "Hardwired" is nominated for Best Rock Song this year.

The pop superstar, who put on a show-stopping performance during Sunday's Super Bowl Halftime show, will perform alongside the heavy metal band at this weekend's awards show in LA.

Gaga will go out in support of her latest album, Joanne.

The Grammys will air February 12 at 8 p.m.

A promo clip of the event was tweeted by the artist's fan site on Monday and the plan has been confirmed by Rolling Stone.

"They take so long to film, they take a long time to edit, and there's never been one that's been shorter than six minutes", Corden told PEOPLE, "so there just really isn't the time!"
