Whether he was on his son's side throughout, or he had a genuine gharwapasi, what is clear by now is that Mulayam Singh Yadav is no longer the most important leader in the Samajwadi Party. He referred the other parties as SCAM - Samajwadi Party, Congress, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati and asked the voters to vote for BJP to bring a new look to the biggest state in the country.
Akhilesh on 6 February had retorted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister fears he might be blown off in Bharatiya Janata Party's storm wittingly, saying the Samajwadis know how to ride a "cycle against the wind".
The Congress will be contesting in 105 seats and the Samajwadi Party will be contesting in 298 seats out of the 403 assembly seats. Akhilesh will be the next chief minister. "I will campaign [for the alliance] from tomorrow".
On Monday, Mulayam denied any differences in the party despite Shivpal's threat to float a new party after the poll results are declared on March 11. Earlier, Mulayam had told media that he would campaign for his younger brother Shivpal Yadav first. However, Mr. Dharmendra Yadav represented the party at the all-party meeting called by the Speaker before the Budget session.More news: Alicia Vikander spotted on set of 'Tomb Raider' reboot

Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati, in a statement issued by the BJP state unit, said she was pained at Aparna's comments. "We gave a good number of seats to Congress". "I am completely against this alliance, I won't campaign", Mulayam Singh had said. "It is "S" for Samajwadi Party, "C" for Congress, "A" for Akhilesh and "M" for Mayawati".
The SP chief's prestige is at stake in Sitapur as he had denied ticket to sitting MLAs Rampal Yadav and Mahendra Singh "Jheen Babu" in the district.
