Alicia Vikander spotted on set of 'Tomb Raider' reboot

Filming on the new Tomb Raider is underway in South Africa and set images have hit the net offering a first look at actress Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.

In the photos, Vikander sports a green tank top, black trousers, injuries on her leg and arms and what appear to be handcuffs. It'll be interesting to see which parts of the game this movie chooses to recreate, and what ends up getting changed-but based on these photos, Lara Croft is definitely still going to be a bad-ass.

The new Tomb Raider's producer, Graham King, said in November that the new film will be an origin story, not just a reboot. Vikander fills the role of Lara Croft in the video game adaptation, playing the only daughter of an aristocratic family who ventures out into unsafe locations in search of ancient artifacts with supernatural powers.

It looks like Lara is trying to escape as other photos from the set show her hands are tied together.

Vikander is currently one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood right now, so this is a big boon for the Tomb Raider reboot. Alicia Vikander is about to raid them.

As stated by Walton Goggins, the actor playing the villainous Father Mathias Vogel, "It's so good". After Angelina Jolie who starred from the two films in early 2000s, Warner Bros has recently turned its franchise over to Vikander, to play the adventure of Croft.

Nothing says "Monday magic" quite like the release of the first batch of badass set photos of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.

The untitled Tomb Raider film comes to theaters on March 16, 2018.
