A day after it registered a preliminary inquiry against Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to probe alleged irregularities in the "Talk to AK" campaign, the CBI on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Delhi government's advertisement department.
A CBI team visited Delhi government's information and publicity department on Thursday in connection with a preliminary enquiry (PE) initiated by the agency into the alleged irregularities in "Talk To AK" campaign by the department previous year.
While a PE against the daughter of Mr. Jain has been registered in her appointment as the advisor to Delhi government's Mohalla Clinic project.
Earlier, he tweeted, "Your (Modi) threats in the form of CBI won't be able to save your favourite Majithia who is embroiled with the drugs mafia".
Soon after the report surfaced, Kejriwal tweeted: "It seems like Modiji has lost it completely". They added that they were not aware of what Sisodia was being charged with.More news: Vladimir Putin has hailed Russia's prostitutes as 'the best in the world'
Reacting to it, an infuriated Sisodia tweeted, "Welcome Modiji. I will wait for your CBI at my home and office on January 19". The Delhi government had also launched a dedicated website -www.talktoak.com- through which people could directly ask questions to him.
During the talk session, the chief minister had covered a wide array of hard issues linked to the strained relations between the Centre and the Delhi government.
Even before the conclusion of the PE, AAP leaders have alleged CBI action is a part of PM Modi's plan to halt the progress of AAP. "Go ahead, call your CBI and arrest me".
"Today (Thursday) Manish (Sisodia) kept waiting for the CBI, but it did not turn up". AAP Delhi Convener Dilip Pandey also accused Prime Minister Modi of targeting the party to protect Majithia. The SAD-BJP government in Punjab is anxious that clean practitioners of politics may assume power in the State, especially because Kejriwal has threatened to jail corrupt SAD leaders, he added. An advertising agency was hired to promote the programme, "Talk to AK". Both Sisodia and Jain are star campaigners in the Punjab assembly elections, where AAP is contesting against the ruling BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal combine, and the Congress.
