Apple App Store prices rise in UK, India and Turkey

This isn't the first time Apple has increased the price of apps, and it certainly won't be the last time either. It's not just £0.79 apps that are going up by 25 percent or more, either. Venmo's monthly active users doubled from October 2015 to October 2016.
For Retail, time spent in shopping apps grew by 30 percent year-over-year in the United States for the busy buying month of November.
The latest numbers on the Apple App store were looking good, having registered a 60% year-on-year growth for Q4 2016 and reaching $5.4B in total revenue. Including in-app advertising, app store revenue and third-party Android stores, publishers made over $89 billion in revenue, the report said.
A class action lawsuit claiming that Apple's App Store is a monopoly can continue, a federal court ruled Thursday, reviving a case that seeks to recover damages from several years' worth of App Store purchases.

However, the most notable trend was that banking, retail, and entertainment apps are disrupting their traditional industries by changing the platform in which more and more consumers engage with the market. India grew from more than 3.5 billion downloads in 2015 to more than 6 billion past year. This means a £0.79p app will now cost £0.99, and a £1.49 app will now cost £1.99 etc.
Elsewhere in the world, games didn't lose their edge when it comes to making developers money. Apps previously priced at £1.49, will jump to £1.99. These apps had the most growth worldwide in both downloads and usage over the past year.
Time spent in apps grew more than 20 percent to almost 900 billion hours in 2016, according to the year-end report.
Spotify generated the most revenue worldwide in 2016, followed by Line, Netflix, Tinder, HBO NOW, Pandora Radio and others. Pokémon Go, a beloved game from Niantic, quickly became a cultural phenomenon in mid-2016.
