Spider-Man: Homecoming Footage Reveals The Vulture [Comic Con 2016]

Michael Keaton was rumored to play The Vulture in the film, and some casting reports suggest that the film will feature multiple villains. Other cast members are (as seen in order in the tweet below) Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and of course the first guy on the left is Tom Holland himself.

Marvel Studios kept the surprise train rolling on Saturday evening during its pull-out-all-the-stops Comic-Con panel, giving the thousands of fans packed into Hall H a first look at Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Sony/Marvel team-up that is bringing Spidey home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: Homecoming is set on the lowest of levels, following a high school student dealing with high school problems in the 10th grade.

We see Peter Parker walking through high school as a homecoming banner is raised. We see high school yearbook photos of all the marvel characters, which appear to be real high school yearbook photos of the marvel stars. We're not entirely sure how anybody captured that footage, but let's just role with it. Flash Thompson is introduced as the teacher chooses him to answer a question, which he fails to answer correctly.

First up, the studio - complete with its new logo - confirmed that The Vulture absolutely is the villain of the piece. Back when Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 was in development, John Malkovich was expected to play Vulture, but that movie was eventually scrapped in favor of the Amazing Spider-Man reboot. Zendaya's character in particular seems to be channeling Linda Cardellini's Lindsay Weir as Peter's friend who may or may not be crushing on him. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming will open in regular theaters and IMAX on July 7, 2017.
