Broadway's Hamilton Announces Replacement for Leslie Odom Jr

Dixon is a seasoned Broadway player, having starred in the original runs of The Color Purple (his first Tony nod), Motown: The Musical, and now, Shuffle Along.

Brandon Victor Dixon is taking over the joint-lead role of Burr from Tony winner Leslie Odom the Broadway production of Hamilton, producers announced Wednesday. He will be on the big stage once a week, while Javier Muñoz plays Alexander Hamilton the other seven shows. Michael Luwoye also joins the cast beginning July 11 as Muñoz's alternate, playing the role once a week.

Lexi Lawson has previously performed in Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights in the first National tour, as well as the role of Mimi in RENT.

Brandon Victor Dixon will be stepping in as Aaron Burr, and is well-known on Broadway after starring in Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed. Dixon also starred in Motown: The Musical on Broadway, which earned him a Grammy Award nomination, and headlined the original cast of The Scottsboro Boys Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre. Dixon begins "Hamilton" performances in mid-August.

A Lee High School and University of Alabama graduate will make his debut on Broadway in the popular Broadway musical "Hamilton".
